My Friends

Kurt Johnston is a junior high pastor in Southern California. He's served in middle school ministry since 1988Ñlonger than most of you have been alive! Kurt was once a middle school student, and when he was in 8th grade he was beaten up by a 7th grader. Kurt and his family live in Orange County where he spends his free time surfing and still avoiding 7th-grade bullies.

Mark Oestreicher has been in middle school ministry for 25 years. Before that he was a middle schooler who got in trouble on a regular basis. He leads a small group of middle school guys and has a daughter in middle school. He's president of Youth Specialties and lives in San Diego with his wife, Jeannie, and his kids, Liesl and Max.
